Too much work for now so I did some quick tests.
With a return (0) near the point of the recent problem I removed the
link in /dev:
refclock_open /dev/gps0: No such file or directory
Then I recreated the faulty link in /dev: gps0 -> ttyS0
refclock: cannot find PPS path "ttyS0" in the system
configuration of 127.127.20.0 failed
After this 127.127.20.0 is dropped from the list that ntpq -pn shows.
Does this look like a good way of working?
