Im not sure if this is relevant or not, but for me, the current 
ntp-pps-2.6.23-rc2.diff
patch, when applied to linux-2.6.22 (not 23-rc2) gives a kernel that build, but
does not load.

Ill try it against 23-rc2 later this PM.
