I think it's because LinuxPPS is still in development and for a while
back the API was changing frequently.
Also there was some discussion on linux-kernel about possibilities of
incorporating the patch in linux which resulted in a some changed versions.

That's why 'the most recent' rule applies.

Also: you might want to try out the irq low level support that Rodolfo
posted here a few days ago. You can apply that over the -ter patch.
