Hello,

One of my workstations which only has DCF and network sync shows:

# ntpq -pn
     remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset
jitter
==============================================================================
+127.127.8.0     .DCFa.           0 l   15   16  377    0.000   12.937

 0.191

But also:

# ntptime
ntp_gettime() returns code 5 (ERROR)
  time d2e87df9.24fd2000  Fri, Feb 17 2012  8:19:21.144, (.144487),
  maximum error 16000000 us, estimated error 16 us, TAI offset 0
ntp_adjtime() returns code 5 (ERROR)
  modes 0x0 (),
  offset 0.000 us, frequency 0.000 ppm, interval 1 s,
  maximum error 16000000 us, estimated error 16 us,
  status 0x4041 (PLL,UNSYNC,MODE),
  time constant 7, precision 1.000 us, tolerance 500 ppm,

The box is running Fedora ntp-4.2.6p4-1.fc16.x86_64 and kernel.org
3.2.4. DCF is set up with these udev rules:

KERNEL=="ttyS1", SYMLINK+="refclock-0"
KERNEL=="ttyS1", RUN+="/bin/setserial -v /dev/%k low_latency irq 20"

What is wrong?
Why does ntptime report errors?
How do I find out?

Same for my firewall box that thas the gps attached:

# ntpq -pn
     remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset
jitter

Looks fairly normal, but also:

# ntptime
ntp_gettime() returns code 5 (ERROR)
  time d2e87fc9.b42b5000  Fri, Feb 17 2012  8:27:05.703, (.703786),

  time constant 7, precision 1.000 us, tolerance 500 ppm,

What is wrong?

Kind regards,
Udo
