Only if:
1. You want the NMEA messages to be timestamped by an ATOM clock
AND
2. An ATOM 'pps0' behaves the same as 'gpspps0' (same data types returned etc etc).

The request was explicitly that we do not play with the name 'pps0' because it is reserved for the ATOM clock.

Another comment I have:  why call it 'gpspps' - what if someone wants to use a source that is not GPS? For example, the CDMA-based OEM time modules.  It might sound silly, but I think a more generic name would be better; since this implementation is specific to Linux, maybe linpps? Bah... I'm very bad at making names.
