[LinuxPPS] RIPE NCC interface: needing help

Dear folks,

I've just "inherited" a Dell server with Trimble Palisad GPS receiver
and RIPENCC interface card. I have to set up a stratum 1 time server
quickly.

I read various docs in the last two days and I tried to recompile
Debian ntpd package with RIPENCC support. By this time I recognized
that kernel must be also modified. However I'm a bit confused
after studying wiki.enneenne.com.

May I get some instructions how to start?
Which kernel version should I use, which specific patch is to apply and
where to download it from?
(I don't know if the latest LinuxPPS version support "old API".)
